Cold wave alert: Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and more to shiver this week

India

Heads up—IMD has put out a cold wave alert for parts of Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana from December 3 to 5.
Expect minimum temperatures in northwest India to remain 3-5°C below normal over the next few days before things settle down.

Why does this matter?

Delhi just had its coldest November in five years, with average lows hitting 11.4°C and 10 nights dipping into single digits.
The cold snap is sticking around into December—Safdarjung saw a frosty 5.7°C on Sunday, way below normal for this time of year.
Cold waves can mess with daily routines and health (especially if you have asthma or other breathing issues), so it's smart to bundle up and look out for those who might need extra care.
