Cow vigilantes force man to eat dung, booked
India
In Pune (near Khed Shivapur), four self-proclaimed cow vigilantes stopped a truck on March 6, accused a man working on the truck of illegal activity, and forced him to eat cow dung while hurling religious insults.
They then took him and his truck to the local police station.
Case against vigilantes
At first, police booked the driver under animal cruelty laws.
But after a video of the alleged assault went viral by March 8, shared by former MLA Waris Pathan and others, authorities registered a case against the vigilantes for assault, promoting enmity, and outraging religious feelings.
Police say they are now searching for those involved.
