Cyclone Ditwah: Red alert for Tamil Nadu coastal districts
India
Cyclone Ditwah hit Sri Lanka on November 28 and is now moving toward Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The IMD has issued a red alert, warning of extremely heavy rain—over 21cm—in places like Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, and Puducherry.
Strong winds up to 90km/h are expected on November 29.
Why bother?
This means there could be serious flooding, fallen trees, and travel disruptions in the coming days.
Chennai is already dealing with a big rainfall deficit and has ramped up water releases from major reservoirs to prevent more flooding.
If you're in these areas, it's smart to keep an eye on updates and stay safe indoors if possible.
