Delhi landlord accused of murdering tenant over phone hacking, rare coin theft
In northwest Delhi, a 31-year-old landlord named Irshad allegedly murdered his tenant Tamanney after accusing him of hacking his phone and stealing rare coins.
Both Tamanney and his roommate Virender were reportedly held and beaten for two days; while Tamanney managed to escape and report the assault, he sadly died later from internal injuries.
Virender also fled to his native village in Bihar after being assaulted.
Police arrest Irshad, recover evidence
Irshad was arrested on November 11 in Rohini after police tracked him across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
He confessed to attacking both men, claiming they tried to erase evidence of a robbery at his factory.
Police recovered items used in the assault—a belt, rope, injection vial—and found Tamanney's phone at the scene.
Irshad now faces murder charges under section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
