Delhi: Massive fire at CGO Complex; 24 fire-engines reach spot
A massive fire broke out at the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's office in Central Delhi's CGO Complex at around 8:30 am Wednesday. The blaze started on the fifth-floor of the Pandit Deendayal Antyodaya Bhawan at the Ministry's office in the CGO complex. Twenty-four fire tenders have been pressed into service. The building located near Lodhi Road houses several government offices. Here's more.

One CISF sub-inspector rushed to AIIMS
According to Delhi's Chief Fire Officer Atul Garg, no casualties have been reported yet. However, a Central Industrial Security Police (CISF) sub-inspector, who had inhaled the smoke, fell unconscious and was rushed to AIIMS. Officials said the CISF sub-inspector did not suffer any burn injury.

Cooling operation currently underway, say officials
Officials said the blaze at CGO Complex has been brought under control; cooling operation is currently underway. A short circuit may have caused the fire, officials added. It is not yet clear whether there were any people inside the building at the time the fire broke out; officials have not commented on the same. However, some reports claim that rescue operations are underway.

The Pandit Deendayal Antyodaya Bhawan in CGO Complex, which was earlier known as the Paryawaran Bhawan, is an 11-storied building. It houses many important offices of the central government and ministries, including the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the Ministry of Social Justice Empowerment and Disability, and a branch of the Indian Air Force.
