First batch of Kailash Mansarovar yatris embark on journey

India

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra—a major spiritual trek for Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains—has finally restarted after being paused for five years due to COVID-19 and border issues. This year, 36 pilgrims set out from Sikkim's Nathula Pass, with stops at special centers to help them adjust to the high altitude.

Yatra runs from June to September

The yatra runs June to September and is run by India's Ministry of External Affairs. Pilgrims travel in organized groups with support from border police, doctors, and staff—so safety and comfort are a priority.

Anyone under 70 can apply for the journey

Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar are huge spiritual landmarks. Anyone up to the age of 70 can apply online for this journey, which was on hold since 2020 but now returns with more support for travelers.
