Himachal Pradesh sees record-low rainfall and biting cold in November

India

Himachal Pradesh just had one of its driest Novembers ever, with rainfall down by 88-95%—most places got barely a drizzle, and some districts like Sirmaur and Mandi saw no rain at all.
Even Shimla nearly hit a total deficit.

Why does this matter?

This dry spell is making life tough for farmers, as low soil moisture threatens winter crops.
On top of that, the state is shivering through a cold wave—temperatures in places like Tabo dropped to -6.6°C, with several high-altitude areas well below freezing.
The next hope for relief? Some light rain or snow is expected soon, but until then, many are hoping for snowfall to provide much-needed moisture.
