What's the story

The Haryana Police claimed to have seized demonetized currency worth Rs. 1.43 crore from three persons. The seizure was made after police conducted a raid at a house in Navdeep Colony in Haryana's Hisar district yesterday night. The accused were identified as Guriqbal Singh, a resident of Delhi'>New Delhi, Sunil of Girawar village, and Praveen Kumar of Samar Gopalpur village of Rohtak. Here's more.

Police couldn't ascertain motive behind this note-exchange during interrogation

During an investigation, the accused admitted that they had procured demonetized notes of Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 from a property dealer in Delhi by making a payment of Rs. 7.50 lakh in the new currency. During the interrogation, police couldn't ascertain the purpose behind the purchase of the scrapped currency, said Harish Bhardwaj, police spokesperson. A case has been registered, he added.
