    What's the story

With so many government services linked with your Aadhaar card, it is one of the most important documents you will ever hold.

Thus, having correct and updated information in the UIDAI database becomes vital.

In case, you need to change your Aadhaar card photograph, you can easily do so.

    Here's how.

    Method 1

To change your Aadhaar-photo at an Aadhaar Enrolment Center

Visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center.

Once there, get an Aadhaar update/correction form, fill it up, and submit.

An executive shall take your biometrics and click a fresh picture.

Pay the Aadhaar update/correction fee, ie. Rs. 25 (plus GST).

Finally, you will be issued an acknowledgment slip, containing a URN.

You can use this URN to check your Aadhaar update status.

    Method 2

You can also write to the UIDAI Regional office

In case you are unable to submit the form in person, you can also get your Aadhaar photo updated by writing to the UIDAI regional office.

To do so, write an application to the regional UIDAI office requesting a change in photo. Attach with it, your Aadhaar update correction form, an attested copy of your new photograph, and a copy of your Aadhaar card.

    Information

Here's the UIDAI regional office address

Send these documents to the following address: UIDAI Regional Office, Khanija Bhavan, No. 49, 3rd Floor, South Wing Race Course Road, Bangalore - 560 001. You will receive your updated Aadhaar card within 15-20 days.

    Aadhaar status

Clearing the air around Aadhaar status

Post the September 26, 2018 SC verdict relating to authentication of Aadhaar, there has been much confusion with respect to services where Aadhaar is necessary and where not.

Aadhaar is no longer mandatory for services such as bank account, telecom services, and school admissions/entrance tests.

However, it is still necessary for getting a PAN, filing I-T returns, and availing government welfare schemes.
