IMD predicts a regular winter ahead for North India

Forget the hype about an extra chilly season—IMD now says North and Central India can expect normal to slightly below-normal winter temperatures from December 2025 to February 2026.
Earlier, there was talk of an exceptionally freezing November thanks to La Nina, but the latest update suggests this winter will feel pretty familiar.

Weather patterns and record rainfall

La Nina is still hanging around in the Pacific, but it's not expected to shake things up much.
Meanwhile, October 2025 stood out for its heavy rain—112.2mm recorded, which is the second-highest since 2001—with Bihar, North Bengal, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh seeing some of the most intense downpours in recent years.
