IMD warns: Bundle up, northern India!
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out a cold wave alert for much of northern, central, and eastern India, with freezing temps sticking around until December 12.
Places like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh are shivering—Rupnagar even hit a chilly 3.6°C on Tuesday.
Dense fog is also rolling through parts of UP and Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, making mornings and evenings especially tricky.
Why does this matter?
This cold snap isn't just uncomfortable—it can be risky for people with breathing issues, older folks, and kids.
Foggy roads mean poor visibility too, so travel can get dicey.
The IMD suggests staying warm indoors when you can and keeping an eye on weather updates before heading out—especially if you're planning an early start or road trip this week.
