IMD issues cold wave warning in Delhi, Telangana, Chandigarh

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave warning for several regions of India from December 9. The weather conditions are likely to continue till December 12 over central, eastern, and northern Peninsular India, according to its latest weather bulletin. In northwest and western India, the IMD said the cold wave conditions are likely to start from December 10.

Dense fog predicted in Assam, Manipur, Odisha
The IMD has also predicted dense fog in isolated pockets of Assam and Manipur from December 9-13. Similar conditions are likely to prevail in East Uttar Pradesh and Odisha on December 9 and 10. Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Delhi are among the regions that may experience cold wave conditions during this period.

Telangana districts under cold wave alert
In Telangana, multiple districts are under a cold wave alert, with minimum temperatures likely to drop by 3-4 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours. An orange alert has been issued for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy from December 8-12. In Hyderabad and surrounding areas within the Greater Hyderabad limits, such as Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri, minimum temperatures are expected between 11°C and 15°C.
Maritime advisory
Fishermen advised against venturing into Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal
The IMD has also issued a fishermen advisory asking them not to venture into the Arabian Sea (Comorin area) from December 8-13 on account of strong winds. Due to squally weather and expected thunderstorms, fishermen are also advised against going into the Bay of Bengal, including the Gulf of Mannar and the southwest/southeast Bay along the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts during this period.
