Indian astronaut's family celebrates successful ISS docking
On June 2025, Indian Air Force pilot Shubhanshu Shukla blasted off with the Axiom 4 crew aboard SpaceX's Dragon from NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
Alongside astronauts from Poland and Hungary, plus veteran commander Peggy Whitson, they reached the International Space Station.
A historic mission for all 3 nations
This is the first time astronauts from India, Poland, and Hungary have visited the ISS—and it's their first human spaceflight in over 40 years.
The team will spend two weeks doing science experiments and sharing what life is like in orbit.
It's also a big moment for international teamwork in private space missions.
How to spot the ISS
You can actually see the ISS zooming across the sky with your own eyes—just after sunset or before sunrise.
For exact times when it'll pass over your area, check out NASA's Spot the Station website.
Whitson, a record-holder in US space missions
The launch and docking were streamed live by Axiom Space and NASA.
Commander Whitson holds a US record with more than 675 days spent in space!
For India, Shukla's journey is a major step toward its own Gaganyaan mission and shows how global partnerships are shaping space exploration.
