IndiGo, Air India rush to fix Airbus A320 software after safety scare
India
IndiGo, Air India, and Air India Express quickly switched 323 Airbus A320 planes back to an older, safer software version after warnings about possible loss of control during solar storms.
This urgent move followed an incident in the US where an A320 suddenly nosedived, injuring 15 people.
Fast rollback with minimal disruption
The airlines managed the software rollback in just over a day, causing only minor delays and cancelations.
IndiGo updated all 200 of its planes; Air India fixed 100 jets (nine didn't need changes), and AI Express handled 23 out of 25 aircraft.
Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury acknowledged the challenge but emphasized safety comes first and promised ongoing support as airlines worldwide review their A320s for similar issues.
