ITBP to deploy all-women teams along India-China border
India
Big move from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police: they're setting up all-women posts along the India-China border for the first time.
Announced by ITBP chief Praveen Kumar at their 64th Raising Day Parade, the first teams will be stationed in Ladakh's Lukung and Himachal Pradesh's Thangi, with more locations planned soon.
What else is changing?
This is part of a bigger push to boost border security—ITBP will increase forward posts from 180 to 215 and bring in smart tech like logistics drones and sustainable infrastructure.
They're also adding new battalions for better coverage and aiming to wipe out Naxalism by 2026, following Union Home Minister Amit Shah's direction.
