Jaishankar asserts India-Pak conflict rooted in terrorism
India's Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar wants the world to see the Kashmir conflict as more than just an India-Pakistan problem—he calls it a global fight against terrorism. Pointing to Osama bin Laden living undetected in Pakistan, he said, "This isn't merely an India-Pakistan issue. It's about terrorism."
Wider consequences of Kashmir issue
Jaishankar spoke out after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22 that killed 26 people. In response, India carried out targeted strikes on terrorist sites across the border on May 7. He emphasized that what happens in Kashmir has wider consequences and should concern everyone fighting terrorism.
On India's role in global issues
He also pitched India as a reliable economic partner for Europe, highlighting its skilled workforce and steady trade ties—especially compared to China. On bigger global issues like the Russia-Ukraine war, he said India doesn't pick sides or push solutions but believes war isn't the answer: "We don't believe a solution will come from the battlefield."
