Jaishankar outlines India's strategy to tackle West Asia crisis
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar laid out India's plan for handling the West Asia crisis during a heated Rajya Sabha session.
With tensions high after U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran, he highlighted three main priorities: keeping India's energy supplies steady, ensuring smooth trade, and looking out for nearly 10 million Indians living across Gulf countries and Iran.
Jaishankar's statement in Parliament
West Asia is vital for India, not just for oil and gas, but also because millions of Indians work there and send money home.
The conflict has already led to airspace shutdowns and risks disrupting key supplies.
Jaishankar shared that the government has helped about 67,000 Indians return safely so far and moved students out of Tehran.
Separately, the government set up a control room in Delhi to support anyone needing help.
Even with rising tensions, India is keeping diplomatic ties open with all sides to protect its interests and people.
