In Jharkhand, a heartbreaking scene unfolded when Ramkrishna Hembram had to carry his newborn son's body home in a wooden box after hospital staff allegedly refused him an ambulance.
The baby, born at Chakradharpur Sub-Divisional Hospital, died soon after birth. Hembram believes it was due to negligence.
A video of him carrying the box circulated on social media, sparking anger and calls for answers.
State health department launches investigation
The state health department has launched an investigation into what happened. Additional Chief Secretary for Health Ajoy Singh assured that "Action will be taken against anyone found involved."
Meanwhile, hospital in charge Dr. Anshuman Sharma denied that Hembrom asked for an ambulance and said the baby had serious complications from the start.
