J&K government dismisses Mohammad Shafi Malik under Article 311(2)(c)
The Jammu and Kashmir government has let go of Mohammad Shafi Malik, a 51-year-old Power Development Department inspector, after accusing him of ties to militant groups.
Officials used Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution (which skips the usual inquiry if national security is at stake) to make the call on June 17.
Malik lived in Arwani, Bijbehara.
Malik named in 3 terror cases
Malik was named in three police cases between 2017 and 2018 for allegedly working with terror groups.
Since Article 370 was scrapped in 2019, the government has ramped up efforts to remove staff suspected of anti-national activities.
Malik is the ninth person fired this year, bringing total dismissals to 91.
While officials say these steps are vital for security, some political parties argue they unfairly target locals.
