Kerala HC lets Sabarimala adjust daily visitor cap on the go
The Kerala High Court just gave Sabarimala temple officials some flexibility—they can now tweak the 5,000 daily spot booking limit if fewer pilgrims show up.
This comes after a recent order slashed spot bookings from 20,000 to 5,000 to keep crowds manageable.
For now, the total cap stays at 75,000 visitors per day (70,000 virtual queue bookings plus up to 5,000 spot bookings), and this rule is in place until November 24.
Why does this matter?
Managing massive crowds at Sabarimala is a big deal—especially during peak season when lakhs of devotees visit.
The court wants things safer and smoother for everyone and has asked temple authorities to set up an expert committee for crowd management and future planning.
The goal? Move from last-minute fixes to smart prep as Sabarimala gears up for its busiest time of year.
