Kerala police's Sabarimala virtual queue rule faces devotee backlash
Kerala police now require Sabarimala pilgrims using the online queue to show up exactly at their booked date and time—a move meant to manage huge crowds during the Mandala-Makaravilakku season.
However, devotee groups have voiced objections, saying travel delays make this rule tough to follow.
Pilgrims call timing rules unfair
D. Vijayakumar from Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sangham called the strict timings unrealistic and impractical, pointing out that things like train delays and traffic jams aren't being considered.
He worries that forcing everyone to stick to their slot could make it harder for out-of-state visitors and even violate pilgrims' rights.
Security steps ramped up as crowds grow
With over 15 lakh visitors by December 3 and nearly one lakh arriving daily, police have boosted security after reports of thefts and conflicts near key spots like Pampa and Neelimala.
Special teams are now on watch, aiming to keep things safe for everyone during this busy stretch.
