Kerala Railway Police launches 'Operation Rakshitha' to ensure women's safety

India

Kerala Railway Police just rolled out "Operation Rakshitha" to make train journeys safer for women, after a recent incident where a woman was kicked out of a running train in Varkala.
The operation covers four major zones—Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Palakkad, and Kozhikode—with each area overseen by a dedicated Railway DYSP.

How you can help

Expect to see more women police officers patrolling both compartments and platforms that are popular with female travelers.
The focus is on stopping crimes like harassment and substance abuse before they start.
If you spot anything suspicious or feel unsafe, you can quickly reach out via Rail Alert Control (9846200100), ERSS (112), or the Railway Helpline (139).
Your vigilance helps keep everyone safer on board.
