Kerala rolls out cheap bus rides for Sabarimala pilgrims

India

Good news for Sabarimala pilgrims: KSRTC now runs 16 daily busses from Vandiperiyar to Sathram, with tickets costing just ₹33.
That's way cheaper than private jeeps, which can charge anywhere from ₹100 per seat to ₹1,000 for a full ride.
The goal? Make travel safer and easier for everyone heading to the famous temple.

What you need to know before you go

You can only enter Pullumedu between 7am and 1pm—arrive later and you'll need to stay overnight at Sathram.
If you haven't booked online, spot booking is available at the Subramania Temple (run by the Devaswom Board), which is a must before starting the Pullumedu trail.
Bonus: The route is packed with lush meadows and forests, so it's not just a pilgrimage—it's also a scenic adventure.
