UP: Policeman's family killed in Barabanki expressway crash

India

A heartbreaking accident on the Purvanchal Expressway in Barabanki took the lives of a policeman's wife, Chandni (30), and her four young children, aged 4 to 12.
Their car was parked near Subehanagar as they stopped for water when a speeding SUV slammed into them Wednesday afternoon.

What happened and what's next

The collision was so severe that it threw the family nearly 20 meters from their car and sparked a fire, likely after the WagonR's CNG cylinder exploded.
Two died instantly; three more passed away at the hospital.
Three passengers in the SUV were also hurt, with one in critical condition.
Police suspect the SUV driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel—no FIR has been filed yet, and an investigation is ongoing.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and ordered support for those affected.
