Kerala: School leaves 5yo boy stranded over unpaid bus fees

India

Earlier this week in Malappuram, Kerala, a five-year-old UKG student was left at his bus stop because his family hadn't paid ₹1,000 in bus fees.
The principal reportedly told the driver not to pick him up, leaving the child stranded until neighbors helped him home.
After this upsetting experience, he withdrew from Chelambra ALP School.

Family reaches out to authorities

Feeling hurt by how the school handled things—especially after staff were reportedly rude—the boy's family has reached out to Kerala's Education Minister, child rights officials, and police for help.
Even after an apology from school staff and PTA members, they've decided to withdraw their son from the school.
