Madras HC rules matrimonial misconduct can lead to job termination

The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court has said that government employees—even those on contract—can lose their jobs if they're involved in serious misconduct related to matrimonial disputes.
This came up after KS Subha Karuthukhan, a contract dental assistant at the Government Upgraded Primary Health Centre in Bogaloor, was let go following criminal charges tied to his marriage.

TL;DR

Karuthukhan's contract had expired in 2017

At first, Karuthukhan got his job back when a single judge ruled that private issues shouldn't affect work contracts.
But district health officials pushed back, arguing that honesty and integrity matter both at work and in personal life for public servants.
The division bench agreed with them, stressing that even contract workers have to follow conduct rules—and since Karuthukhan's contract had already expired in 2017, there was no reason to reinstate him.
