Maharashtra: 81 staff members suspended for aiding students in cheating
Maharashtra's exam board has suspended 81 staff members after uncovering mass cheating during this year's Class 10 and 12 board exams.
Investigators found that some employees used ChatGPT to generate answers.
One peon even snapped photos of question papers, sent them on WhatsApp to a teacher, who then printed out AI-generated answers and handed them to students as chits.
FIRs registered against staff members
At Beed's Chausala center, supervisors were caught on drone footage openly helping students copy in 16 exam halls.
Meanwhile, at Washim's Mainagiri Maharaj center, staff—including the chief supervisor—enabled phone-based mass copying during a physics test; a large number of students were involved.
Authorities have registered FIRs/police cases against those involved and are reviewing security measures for future exams.
