Maharashtra budget: Farmers' loans up to ₹2lakh waived
Maharashtra's new budget brings a big relief for farmers: crop loans up to ₹2 lakh will be waived for those who defaulted by September 30, 2025.
This move (part of the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjmafi Yojna) delivers on a major election promise and is the third farm loan waiver in the past decade.
Other benefits under scheme
Around 30 lakh (about 3 million) farmers stand to benefit, making it one of the largest waivers yet.
The scheme also rewards timely payers with a ₹50,000 bonus and aims to make getting fresh crop loans easier through a Farmer ID (Agristack).
Plus, there's extra support: free power for pump sets, funds for natural farming, a digital platform to help farmers access global markets, alongside AI tools to support farmers, and accident grants for farm workers, all aimed at making rural life a bit less stressful.
