Maharashtra proposes law limiting daily private coaching to 5 hours
Maharashtra's government is rolling out a new law to keep private coaching centers in check.
If passed, the act will limit daily teaching hours to five, ban classes for children under 13, require weekly holidays, and stop tests right after breaks, basically making things less intense for students.

The draft also tackles misleading promises about exam success and asks centers to be upfront about fees, no sneaky hikes mid-course, plus refunds if you leave early.
Student support gets a boost with mandatory counseling and career guidance.
Safety rules are set too: proper ventilation, fire certificates, CCTV cameras, and separate toilets.
Tutors must be graduates with clean records.
Break the rules? Centers could face fines up to ₹50 lakh or even shut down.
