Maharashtra woman forced into 3 marriages in month, traffickers arrested
India
A 21-year-old woman from Maharashtra was forced into three marriages in just one month as part of a trafficking racket, according to Beed police.
After being moved from Latur to Pune and pushed into these marriages, she tried to end her life in early March 2026.
Four people have been named in the case.
Police are now investigating a wider network behind these forced marriages
The victim was taken by an accused named Mahananda, who arranged the first two marriages for money: ₹5 lakh after the first and ₹4.5 lakh after the second, and the third was fixed for ₹4.5 lakh by Balika.
She was passed between men across districts until her ordeal ended with a suicide attempt.
Police say they are now investigating a wider network behind these forced marriages and working to bring everyone involved to justice.
