Maharashtra's cold snap: Pune unexpectedly colder than Mahabaleshwar

Maharashtra is facing an unusual cold wave—Pune just hit a chilly 9.4°C, dropping 4-5°C overnight and even beating Mahabaleshwar's 11.4°C.
Haveli near Pune got as cold as 7.8°C, making locals reach for extra layers.

Why bother?

This isn't just a Pune thing—Vidarbha, Marathwada, Nashik (9.9°C), and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (10.2°C) are all feeling the drop too.
The IMD says northern Maharashtra could get even colder over the next couple of days before things settle down.

What's causing it?

Blame Cyclone Ditwah near Tamil Nadu and another weather system up north for these shivers.
Meanwhile, Mumbai is dealing with "very poor" air quality and stricter pollution controls as winter sets in.
