MP man dies by suicide at Delhi's Jantar Mantar

India

A 40-year-old man from Morena, Madhya Pradesh, died by suicide on Monday morning while protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
He had been coming to the city since July, hoping to secure jobs for himself and his sister after her husband, a peon in the MP government's education department, passed away in 2019.
His protest was focused on getting his sister employment on compassionate grounds.

No suicide note recovered

The man reportedly shot himself around 8am at the protest site.
Police found him with a head injury and a pistol nearby—no suicide note was recovered.
Authorities are now looking into how he got the firearm and what led him to take such a drastic step despite his repeated attempts to protest since July.
His family has been informed and is traveling to Delhi.
