Mumbai court denies bail to IPS officer's husband in scam

India

A Mumbai court has refused bail to Purushottam Chavan, the husband of an IPS officer, who was arrested in connection with a real estate scam.
Chavan is accused of tricking people with promises of affordable government homes, leading to a loss of ₹7.42 crore.
He asked for bail on health grounds, saying jail facilities weren't enough for his medical needs.

Chavan will have to stay in custody for now

The judge reviewed Chavan's medical concerns and decided they could be managed with the current jail and hospital facilities.
The court also pointed out that police raised concerns about other criminal cases against him and the seriousness of the charges.
For now, Chavan will have to stay in custody while the case continues.
