Murder fugitive finally caught in Mumbai after 17 years on the run

India

After 17 years of hiding, Durgesh—wanted for a 2008 murder tied to a drug dispute—was arrested in Mumbai's Antop Hill.
The case dates back to October 1, 2008, when Rajesh Soni Lakhwani was killed in Mulund West.
Police finally tracked Durgesh down on Saturday, bringing an end to the manhunt.

How it all went down

Durgesh had been charged with serious offenses under the Indian Penal Code and Maharashtra Police Act.
While his associates were caught soon after the crime, he managed to stay off the radar until a recent tip-off led police right to him.
After confirming his involvement during questioning, officers handed him over to Mulund police—finally closing a chapter that had been open for 17 years.
