Namibian cheetah gives birth to 5 cubs at Kuno
Big news from Kuno National Park: Jwala, a Namibian cheetah, just had five adorable cubs.
This brings India's cheetah count up to 53, with 33 of them born right here.
Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav called it a major win for Project Cheetah, which is working to bring these speedy cats back to India.
Another cheetah, Gamini, gave birth recently
Just days ago, another cheetah named Gamini also gave birth at Kuno.
These new arrivals show that the reintroduced cheetahs are starting to settle in and thrive, a big deal since cheetahs were wiped out in India several decades ago.
Project Cheetah began in the early 2020s
Project Cheetah kicked off in the early 2020s with the arrival of 20 cheetahs from Namibia and South Africa.
Every successful birth helps boost genetic diversity and aids recovery efforts.
It's not just about numbers: it's about giving these amazing animals a real shot at survival in India again.
