Nashik: Leopard injures 8 during rescue operation

India

Things got tense in Nashik on Friday when a leopard wandered into multiple neighborhoods, eventually entering someone's house.
The rescue mission was anything but easy—eight people, including two forest department personnel, were hurt as the team worked to capture the animal.

What happens next?

After a two-hour effort, the leopard was safely tranquilized and moved to the Wildlife Treatment Centre in Mhasrul.
State water resources and disaster management minister Girish Mahajan, who was there, said they're worried about more leopards showing up in cities and are looking at ways to prevent future incidents—like adding more cages and staff.
He also promised compensation for those injured and clarified that only one leopard was involved this time, despite rumors of two.
