Pune couple tricked man into believing daughter needs spiritual treatment
India
Over seven years, Pune IT engineer Deepak Dolas was allegedly tricked out of nearly ₹14 crore by Rajendra Khadke and Vedika Pandharpurkar.
The duo convinced him that Vedika was possessed by the spirit of Shankar Maharaj and could cure his daughter's incurable congenital disease—if he showed total faith and handed over all his assets.
Dolas sold UK home, farmhouse
Dolas ended up selling his UK home and farmhouse, transferring huge sums for the so-called treatment. When his daughter's condition didn't improve, he realized it was a scam and reported it.
Police found Vedika used some money to buy a bungalow in Pune, and are now investigating if there are more victims. The case is still under active investigation.
