Rajasthan booth officer dies while uploading voter data, raising concerns over workload

India

Anuj Garg, a 42-year-old booth-level officer in Dholpur, Rajasthan, died, reportedly of cardiac arrest, pending final medical confirmation, late Saturday night while uploading voter data for the Special Intensive Revision drive.
He collapsed at home just after asking for tea and was declared dead at the hospital.
According to his sister Vandana, he'd been working until 1am and was under immense work pressure.

Who was Anuj Garg?

Garg taught at Government Senior Secondary School in Bara since 2012 and also managed duties as a BLO for his local polling booth.
His family shared that he was under intense pressure—working till late every night.
He leaves behind his wife Sangeeta and two young sons, Harshit (9) and Devansh (2).

Why does this matter?

Garg's passing is the third such case among Rajasthan BLOs in recent weeks during this voter data update push.
With over 5 lakh officers across India handling similar workloads right now, his story highlights how demanding these roles can be—and why support matters.
