After CJP workers attacked at school, Rajasthan orders new building
What's the story
The Rajasthan government has ordered the construction of a new school building at Rampura. The decision comes after an incident on Friday when Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) workers were attacked while visiting a dilapidated government school in Jaipur's Bagru Assembly constituency. According to Hindustan Times, which cited the late Saturday night order, work on the new building is set to begin on September 1, 2026.
Funding details
₹18 lakh allocated for new building
The government order states that construction of the new school building has been initiated to ensure a safe and better learning environment for students.
A total of ₹18 lakh has been allocated for this project, including ₹12 lakh from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) and another ₹6 lakh from the MLA fund.
Infrastructure overhaul
Roadmap to transform government schools
The Rajasthan government has also unveiled a ₹12,500 crore plan to transform government schools into safe and modern learning centers.
The Chief Minister's Office said the three-year roadmap will cover financial years 2026-27 to 2028-29.
It includes around ₹2,487.75 crore for new school buildings and ₹8,378.30 crore for new classrooms across all 41 districts.
Victory claim
CJP hails announcement as victory
The CJP has hailed the CM's announcement as a victory for its campaign.
Party co-convener Ashutosh Ranka thanked Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for ordering the Rampura school project.
He called the ₹12,500 crore roadmap a "huge victory" but said the CJP would keep a close watch on its implementation.
Ongoing efforts
'School Thik Karo' campaign
Ranka said the CJP would continue its "School Thik Karo" campaign until all government schools in Rajasthan are repaired and upgraded.
The campaign comes after Friday's incident at Rampura Kanwarpura where CJP workers were attacked during an unauthorized school visit.
Allegedly, the attack was instigated by Education Minister Madan Dilawar, and the attackers were associated with local MLA Kailash Verma, who accused CJP members of disturbing peace in the village.
