Tamil Nadu sends massive aid to cyclone-hit Sri Lanka

India

After Cyclone Ditwah struck Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu stepped up by sending 950 tons of relief supplies. The disaster claimed hundreds of lives, displaced thousands, and caused widespread damage.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin flagged off the mission, with two Indian Navy ships loaded with essentials leaving from Chennai and Thoothukudi.

What's in the aid?

The shipments included huge amounts of sugar, pulses, milk powder, clothes, blankets, towels, and tarpaulins—everything needed for families forced into temporary shelters after the cyclone.

More than just help—it's about connection

Tamil Nadu worked closely with the Indian Navy to get help to Sri Lanka quickly.
Deputy High Commissioner Ganesanathan Geathiswaran thanked India for standing by them during tough times.
This gesture isn't just about supplies; it's a reminder of how strong the bond is between these neighbors.
