Telangana: 95 sweet shops inspected, many using banned synthetic colors
Just days before Diwali, food safety teams in Telangana inspected 95 sweet manufacturing units and retail outlets across the state.
They found several places using banned synthetic colors in milk-based sweets, selling adulterated ghee, reusing cooking oil, and even wrapping treats in non-food-grade silver foil.
Many shops were also caught with expired or unlabelled products.
Authorities issue warning for festive season
Officials seized and destroyed over 60kg of adulterated sweets and 40kg of bread.
Improvement notices went out to shops breaking the rules, and detailed lab results are still on the way.
Authorities are urging everyone to buy only from licensed outlets with valid FSSAI registration—plus, keep an eye out for excessively bright or unnatural colors or improper packaging to stay safe this festive season.
