UP: Six killed, one missing in explosion at petrochemical factory

At least six laborers died while two others were seriously injured in an explosion in a private petrochemical factory in UP's Bijnor today morning, police said. The blast took place around 8am when the boiler of the factory was being repaired, According to the police. One laborer is still missing and two laborers were brought to a hospital in a serious condition, police said.

Boiler wasn't functioning for the past few days: SP Kumar

"There was a blast in the Mohit Petro-Chemical Factory at Nagina Road in which laborers Balgovind, Ravi, Lokendra, Kamalveer, Vikrant and Chetram died," SP, Umesh Kumar Singh, said. "The boiler of the factory wasn't functioning for the past few days. Today, during its repairing, a blast in the boiler occurred while welding was going on," he said. Police are now tracing the factory's owner.
