Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth ₹8,260 crore in Uttarakhand. The initiatives are part of the state's silver jubilee celebrations and cover sectors like drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports and skill development. Notable projects include Dehradun's AMRUT scheme water supply coverage for 23 zones and an electrical substation in Pithoragarh district.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated solar power plants in government buildings and an AstroTurf Hockey Ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital. He laid the foundation stones for projects worth over ₹7,210 crore, including two major hydro-sector projects, the Song Dam Drinking Water Project and the Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project. Under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), he transferred ₹62 crore directly to over 28,000 farmers' accounts in Uttarakhand as financial support.

Infrastructure projects worth ₹2 lakh crore underway in Uttarakhand
During the event at Dehradun's Forest Research Institute (FRI), PM Modi praised Uttarakhand's all-round progress in various sectors. He noted that infrastructure projects worth ₹2 lakh crore are currently underway in the state, and its budget has increased from ₹4,000 crore to over ₹1 lakh crore in 25 years. The Prime Minister also released a commemorative postal stamp to mark the occasion and suggested that Uttarakhand could become "the spiritual capital of the world" due to its pilgrimage centers.

Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmit Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present at the event. The Prime Minister inaugurated several other projects, including electrical substations, and laid the foundation stones for the Women's Sports College in Champawat and a state-of-the-art dairy plant in Nainital. These initiatives are aimed at boosting infrastructure and development across key sectors in Uttarakhand as part of its silver jubilee celebrations.
