West Bengal employees to get 10-day break in January 2026

India

Good news for West Bengal government employees: January 2026 is bringing two handy clusters of holidays, letting you score up to 10 days off just by using one casual leave.
The state's official holiday calendar is packed this year, with a total of 53 official holidays, and over 150 non-working days when weekends are included, so there's plenty of time to relax or plan something fun.

How the January breaks stack up

The first holiday stretch kicks off with New Year's Day (Jan 1), then links up with a weekend (Jan 10-11) and Swami Vivekananda Jayanti (Jan 12).
If you take Jan 13 off, you can ride the wave straight into Makar Sankranti on Jan 14—making it a five-day break.
Later in the month, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birthday and Saraswati Puja (Jan 23) connect to another long weekend ending with Republic Day, giving you four days in a row.

More festival downtime ahead

It doesn't stop in January—there are also long breaks for Durga Puja and Kojagari Lakshmi Puja in October (a whopping 12 days), plus over 10 days off during Kali Puja and Chhath Puja in November.
Even some Sundays double as holidays next year.
