Republic Day is celebrated on 26th January to honor the day when the Constitution of India came into effect. The Constitution of India replaced the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. The celebration is held at the Rajpath, before the President of India in the national capital, New Delhi. The Parade is organised by the Ministry of Defence.
