Blast comes after major terror module bust
The blast came hours after eight people were arrested and 2,900kg of explosives were recovered from a "white collar" terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The terror module spanned across Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Among those arrested were Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed of Al Falah University in Faridabad.
Attack plans
Links between terrorists and Al Falah University
Nabi, who drove the car that exploded near the Red Fort, was also associated with Al Falah University. He is believed to have died in the blast. Ganaie and Umar had reportedly recce'd the Red Fort area before the explosion and were planning to target a crowded place on Diwali but failed to carry out any activity. They were also planning an attack on Republic Day, NDTV sources said. The case is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
