MP: Whistleblower bureaucrat Niaz Khan transferred 18 times in 13yrs

Niaz Khan, a senior bureaucrat with the MP government has been transferred a shocking 18 times in the last 13 years. The latest transfer was after he exposed corruption by local authorities in implementing the government's flagship 'Swachh Bharat Mission'. Khan is known to uncover scandals. He faces the ire of local politicians and village sarpanchs for his anti-corruption drive. Here's more!

What is the latest scam that Khan uncovered?

Recently, Khan exposed the toilet door scam. He ordered that doors of 42,000 toilets, constructed under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Guna district, be weighed. As per the scheme's guidelines, the iron doors should weigh 14kgs. However, these doors weighed only 4kgs. The stakeholders allegedly received kickbacks for the remaining 10kgs. Now, he is confident that an in-depth inquiry will expose a Rs. 100cr scam.

What are the other scams that Khan exposed?

In 2012, as sub-divisional magistrate in Ratlam district, Khan issued a warrant against elected representatives/panchayat officials for embezzling funds meant for constructing primary/middle schools in their respective villages. Recently, he ordered a forgery case against 200 people after an early morning raid found that about 2,000 people were defecating in the open in Guna's 155 villages. This was despite them being declared open-defecation-free.

Khan, also a writer, is controversy's child

In another instance, eyebrows were raised when Khan requested permission for spending a month with underworld don Salem'>Abu Salem in Taloja Jail. He wanted to write a book on Salem and starlet Monica Bedi's affair titled 'Love demands blood.' However, his request was denied. Additionally, some muslims had burnt copies of one of his other books "Triple Talaq," claiming that he hurt religious sentiments.
