Five natural home remedies to get rid of facial hair

Facial hair is a woman's worst nightmare. But, hirsutism or excessive hair growth in unusual areas affects up to 10% of women, irrespective of their age. And, artificial methods such as tweezing or waxing can be painful, and may even take a toll on your skin health. Hence, here are five natural home remedies to help you remove unwanted facial hair.

    Honey and sugar peel-off mask

Mix two tablespoons of sugar, one tablespoon honey and one tablespoon water in a bowl. Heat this mix in a microwave for about 30 seconds. Apply this paste to the parts of your face with excessive/unwanted hair. Place a cloth strip over the applied mix, and pull it off in the direction opposite to which the hair is growing. Repeat as and when needed.

    Papaya and turmeric face mask

To prepare this mask, peel one raw papaya, cut it into small pieces, and then mash the pieces to form a paste. Now, add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder to it. Apply this paste on the areas with unwanted hair, gently massage it on the skin, and let the mask sit for 15-20 minutes. Finally, wash off with warm water. Repeat this twice a week.

    Oatmeal and banana paste

To prepare this mix, you will need one ripe banana and two tablespoons of oatmeal. Mash the banana to make a paste. Then, blend the oatmeal and the mashed banana in a bowl. Apply this paste on the affected areas and rub gently in circular motion. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes before washing off with cold water. Repeat once or twice a week.

    Potato and lentil paste

Soak one cup yellow lentils overnight. Next morning, crush them in a food processor to form a thick paste. Extract juice from one potato and add it to the paste. Also, add one tablespoon lemon juice and one tablespoon honey to the mix. Apply the paste to affected areas. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Once fully dry, remove the mask using your fingers.

    Egg and cornstarch mask

Crack an egg and take the white from it in a bowl. Add one tablespoon of sugar and 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch to it. Stir well to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to your face. Let it dry for 20-30 minutes. One the paste is hard enough for peeling, grab it with your fingers and rip it off. Repeat it twice/thrice per week.
