    While meat eaters get most of their nutrients (including the all important protein) easily, vegetarians often struggle to avoid deficiencies. However, it doesn't have to be this way. Believe it or not, easy-peasy sandwiches can save you. Yes, they are not just delicious, sandwiches can also be nutritious and healthy. Here are five healthy vegetarian sandwich recipes that your kids will love.

    Avocado Lettuce Tomato (ALT) sandwich: Filling and wholesome

    For your Avocado Lettuce Tomato (ALT) sandwiches, toast two slices of whole grain bread. Meanwhile, slice a tomato and an avocado. Next, slather mayonnaise (as per your liking) to one side of all your slices. Then, add a layer each of tomatoes, lettuce, and avocado. Sprinkle salt to taste. Top your sandwich with another slice of bread. Cut into two halves, if you want.

    Grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich: Simple and sweet

    To prepare this sweet and mouth-watering sandwich, start by heating a skillet over medium heat. Next, spread one tablespoon (or more) of peanut butter onto one side of each of your bread slices. Place banana slices onto the peanut butter side of your breads. Cover your sandwich with a second slice of bread. Finally, fry it on both sides, until it turns golden brown.

    Roasted red pepper hummus, avocado and feta sandwich

    Spread roasted red pepper hummus evenly on one side of your bread, and set aside. Next, mix avocado and feta cheese. Mash well with a fork. Add lemon juice, basil, salt and pepper to it. Spread this mix over red pepper hummus on your bread slices. Place other slices of bread on top to make a sandwich. Grill or no grill - your call.

    Loaded vegetable sandwich: Stop waiting, go make some now!

    To prepare a loaded vegetable sandwich, start by stirring together cream cheese and two scallions in a small bowl. Spread one tablespoon of cream cheese on one side of your bread. Next, layer slices of tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, sprouts, lettuce, and avocado on top. Cover the sandwiches with another slice of bread. Cut into halves, if desired. Don't wait, go and make some now.

    Tomato sandwich: Amazingly easy to make and delightfully juicy

    To prepare simple and delicious tomato sandwiches: Toast the bread to your liking. Let it cool for a bit. Meanwhile, cut a tomato into slim slices. Spread one tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of the bread. Next, layer as many tomato slices as you want on top of your toasts. Sprinkle salt and pepper. Note: This one is not protein-rich.
