Mumbai: Scolded over PUBG addiction, man stabs sister's fiance

PUBG fever has gripped the nation, and cases of it having bad effects on people are also on the rise. In the latest incident, a man in Mumbai stabbed his sister's fiance after the latter confronted him about his severe gaming addiction. The confrontation irked Rajnish Rajbhar, 27, and the duo had a spat after which, he stabbed Om Chandrakishor Bavdankar. Here's what happened.

Details
Rajnish returns home at 4 am searching for phone charger

Om, 32, lives in Ambernath and recently got engaged to Rajnish's sister, who lives in Kalyan. On February 6, Om went to meet his fiancee at her house around 9:30 pm. Post dinner, he started working on his laptop. Later, around 4 am, Rajnish returned home to find his phone's charger as it had run out of battery after playing PUBG constantly.

Rajnish finds charger wire damaged, cuts his sister's laptop charger

Rajnish frantically started searching for his phone's charger as he didn't want to lag behind in the game. Unfortunately, he saw that his charger's wire had been damaged and kicked his family's dog in anger. Enraged, he took a knife from the kitchen and started cutting the wire of his sister's laptop. Om saw this and confronted Rajnish about his actions.

Confrontation
'You are always playing mobile game at night'

"Why did you cut the laptop-charger wire. I would have brought you a new charger. Your parents opened a mobile shop for you and you are always playing a mobile game in the night and sleeping in the day. How will you run the business?" Om asked Rajnish. This annoyed Rajnish and in a fit of rage, he stabbed Om with the knife.

Complaint

Following this, Om was immediately admitted in a hospital in Ulhasnagar with injuries. Later, after receiving primary treatment, the victim was shifted to a hospital in Kalwa. Thereafter, Om lodged a police complaint against the accused and Senior Inspector Sahurao Salve told media that they have booked Rajnish for assault. The police added that further investigation is underway.

Other incidents
Separately, J&K fitness trainer lost mental balance playing PUBG consistently

The Mumbai incident isn't the sole one indicating how PUBG addiction has hit the country. Previously, a fitness trainer in Jammu and Kashmir started hitting himself after getting addicted to the game. Doctors quoted that he lost his mental balance. The J&K Student Association has also appealed to the state governor to ban the game as it led to poor board-exam results of students.
